Calm, not alarming
Our users are already worried when they open the app. Nothing we ship should make that worse — no sirens, no red walls, no fear as a growth tactic.
Don't keep what you don't need
We never store message content. Not as a policy we can quietly revise — as an architecture decision that would take real work to undo.
Open roles
Shieldr is small and early. There are no formally posted roles right now, but we're always glad to hear from people who'd be good at one of these — especially if you've watched someone you love get taken in by one of these messages.
- iOS engineer — React Native / Expo, someone who cares about how an app feels for a 70-year-old holding it for the first time
- Backend engineer — Supabase, edge functions, and the privacy constraints that make this app what it is
- Writer — verdict explanations, onboarding, support. The hardest writing job in the company by a distance
- Community & partnerships — credit unions, senior centres, consumer advocates, local news
