The rules of the road for using Shieldr.
Please read these Terms carefully before using Shieldr. By using the app, you agree to be bound by them.
Shieldr's assessments are informed judgments, not certainties — always exercise your own judgment alongside what it tells you.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legally binding agreement between you and Shieldr ("Shieldr," "we," "our," or "us") governing your use of the Shieldr mobile application and the website at tryshieldr.app (together, the "Service"). By downloading, installing, or using Shieldr, you confirm you are at least 13 years old and agree to these Terms.
Shieldr analyzes text messages, emails, voicemails, letters, and web links that you choose to share with it, and returns an assessment of whether the content appears safe, suspicious, or fraudulent, along with an explanation and suggested next steps. The Service requires a paid subscription.
This is the most important term in this document.
Shieldr's assessments are produced by artificial intelligence. They are informed judgments, not certainties. Shieldr can be wrong in both directions: it may describe a fraudulent message as safe, or an ordinary message as suspicious.
You must always exercise your own judgment. Do not treat a "safe" verdict as permission to send money, share personal information, or trust a sender. Do not treat a "scam" verdict as a definitive finding about any person or business. When something feels wrong, trust that feeling regardless of what Shieldr tells you.
Shieldr is a second opinion. It is not a substitute for caution, and it is not a security service, a fraud investigation, or professional advice of any kind.
When Shieldr checks a web address, it examines the address's structure and reputation against known-malicious-site databases. It does not visit the page. A link that returns no warning has not been inspected — only checked against what is already known about it.
Shieldr offers:
Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple ID Account Settings. Refunds for partial periods are not provided.
Deleting your Shieldr account does not cancel your subscription. Because Apple manages billing, you must cancel through Apple separately.
Solo plans are limited to one device at a time. Family plans cover up to three accounts, with one member paying for all of them.
You may share content that you have received. You may not use Shieldr to:
When Shieldr identifies a fraudulent sender and can extract a phone number or email address, that identifier and verdict are added to a database shared among users, so others can be warned. This record contains no message content and nothing identifying you.
If you believe a sender has been recorded incorrectly, you can dispute it from within the app and the report will be reviewed. We reserve the right to correct or remove entries.
Shieldr may suggest reporting a message to your carrier, blocking a sender, registering with the Do Not Call Registry, or replying in a particular way. These are suggestions. Shieldr does not take these actions on your behalf — you complete them yourself, and you are responsible for what you send or submit. Some suggested actions, including the Do Not Call Registry, are United States services and may not be available where you live.
The Service's content, features, and design — including text, graphics, logos, and software — belong to Shieldr and are protected by intellectual property law. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without written permission.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its assessments will be accurate. We disclaim all implied warranties including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Shieldr is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.
This specifically includes any loss resulting from acting on — or failing to act on — an assessment Shieldr provided, whether because a fraudulent message was described as safe or a legitimate message was described as fraudulent.
Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.
We may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these Terms. You may delete your account at any time from the Settings screen. On deletion, your account, scan history, and family membership are removed.
We may update these Terms. Significant changes will be reflected in the date above, and where a change materially affects your rights, we will ask you to review the updated Terms in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Nassau County, New York.
